FAQ
Can I work with my own eye doctor with the Macular Program?
Absolutely. When you complete your medical history online you will be prompted to let us know who your current eye doctor is so that we can all work together to track your vision.
Why do you say you can improve vision in AMD?
We say this because we know that AMD is causes by diseased cells called the RPE. We know that we can help rejuvenate cells with hormones, anti-oxidative strategies, reduction of inflammation, repair of critical biochemistry that allows for the turning off of bad genes and turning on of good genes. We say this because time and time again after treating patients with macular degeneration we have seen an improvement in dry macular degeneration. We published a press release on one particular patient that was quite dramatically improved upon. Then one day a patient came to us with wet macular degeneration. To our shock and amazement this person's wet macular degeneration turned dry and she has not needed an injection for over five years. It turns out that was not a fluke because the clinical literature supports why she improved. And we were able to repeat this outcome in others.
What if my eye doctor hasn’t heard of this yet?
Although we work with hundreds of eye doctors around the country, it’s hard for new information to reach everybody. The best way to have your eye doctor learn about this is for you to teach him by sending him to our website. He can review the information and make an informed decision with you.
Why can't my doctor do this?
The answer is because your doctor was not trained in nutrition, biochemistry and the restoration of hormonal levels. It is this reason that we exist. We exist to help doctors help their patients. On our team is % biochemist with a great deal of clinical experience. (see our doctors.)
I'm an eye doctor and would like to find out more information who can I talk to?
We are always more than happy to onboard and co-manage with new eye care professionals. Email us at info@macularprogram.com or call 440-777-2667. We look forward to speaking with you.
Where are your studies?
Many studies exist on each treatment we provide. Studies do not exist on all of the treatments used together. Our discovery is that if you combine proven therapies you achieve dramatic results.
Is the Macular Program covered by insurance?
The answer is we don't know. You have a contract with your insurance carrier. That contract determines what they will or will not cover. The only way to find out is for you to bring them your diagnostic codes and the CPT codes of the testing and see what they say. If you have not met your deductible obviously they will not pay anything. In that situation we have solidified a low-cost price for hormonal testing. We suggest submitting all your medical documents from us to submit to your insurance to seek reimbursement.
Does insurance cover the testing?
Insurance may cover testing and other aspects of the care we provide. We won't know until we ask.
Isn't hormone restoration part of general anti-aging medicine?
Hormones decline with age and this decline accelerates the aging process. In fact macular degeneration is also called age related macular degeneration. It comes with age so we need to reverse the problems that occur with aging and declining hormones are certainly a major part of that. In our health questionnaire we ask about symptoms of aging because we can benefit virtually all of them. In our health questionnaire we ask about symptoms of aging because we can benefit virtually all of them.
Will this program help my other medical conditions?
The answer is absolutely. We have achieved extraordinary success helping patients with migraine, depression, joint pain, fatigue, memory issues, and more. Unfortunately this is a very alien idea to most people who are used to treating each of their conditions with one pill for one ill. The idea that so many different medical problems can get better with a smart tactical biochemistry/physiologic approach is not ingrained into the culture. Again, our culture has been indoctrinated to think that therapy involves one pill for one symptom and that one pill causes side effects. Just listen to the drug commercials. With advanced wellness, there are no side effects, only good effects. We are simply optimizing your physiology based upon testing.
How do you determine how to treat?
The answer is based upon our vast clinical experience using advanced wellness and testing. In a perfect world where everything is covered by insurance, we would do 4 key tests. If these tests qre not covered by insurance we are able to use our clinical experience to bridge the testing gap's.
What are the four key tests?
We test hormones, markers of inflammation, vitamin D levels, genetics, food sensitivity, and biochemistry of methylation.
What is the relationship between genetic testing and the development of care plans?
This is a high-level question. If you have a genetic error (a SNP, basically a misspelling in a word in a 500 page book) in a gene that means that that gene will not produce a perfect rendition of whatever substance it is designed to produce. Genes are blueprints. If the blueprint is incorrect then the thing it is designed to create will also be incorrect. Knowing where these genetic misspellings are allows us to formulate a care plan to compensate for the abnormality created by the abnormal gene. One classic genetic error are errors in a gene called MTHFR.
How will I know if this works for me?
Current therapies do not improve visual acuity. You will see better or need fewer injections within 6 months of care or 9 months at the latest. If we don't see any improvement we don't know if it worked for you.
Are my supplements included in the cost of the Macular Program?
Since everyone is on a different personalized program, no supplements are not included in the cost of the program. However, we do provide you with an on-going 20% discount coupon code upon checkout so you don't feel the need to shop around.
Do I get discounts on my supplements?
Yes, we source high quality supplements and extend a physician discount of 20% to all patients who participate in the Macular Program to save on their monthly expenditures. We do this so you don't feel the need to shop around on Amazon, Costco, or elsewhere jeopardizing the quality of the care that you need. Patients often report that their supplements on the Macular Program costs them less and they are comforted in knowing they are getting the best price for such high quality supplements.
